There are three types (formats) of lists:

• Classic List. Closed for voting and new submissions
• Ranked List. Open for voting, closed for new submissions
• Open List. Open for voting and new submissions

You can turn on/off all the types via WP Dashboard > Settings > Snax > General > Active Formats.

Setup

Lists global options are in WP Dashboard > Settings > Snax > Formats > Lists.

If you want to override the global setup and adjust one or a few lists individually, please follow these simple steps:

1. Go to the WP admin panel › Posts
2. Find your list (using filters and search form)
3. Go to its edit page
4. In the Snax meta box (right sidebar), you will find all available options:
   • for Open List:
     – Submission Start date
     – Submission End date
     – Close submission automatically after X published items
     – Change default forms (for items submissions form)
   • for Ranked List:
     – Voting Start Date
     – Voting End Date
     
   • Items per page
5. Adjust them and save changes.

List Submission Form

The submission form settings are located under WP Dashboard > Settings > Snax > Formats > Lists > Frontend Form section. Read more

List View

A list single view is a regular post with items appended to the end of it. The settings for that view are available in the WP Dashboard > Settings > Snax > Formats > Lists > Singe Post section. The setting are:

• Link to single item from list
  If checked, a list item title points to an item single post.
  
• Show Featured Media
  Uncheck to hide the featured image of a list. Useful if the same image is already among list items
  
• Show list status in title
  Append a list status (for the Open List: closed | open) to a list title
  
• Show items count in title
  Append a number of items to a list title
  
• Display items comments on list view
  Allow users to comment on list items directly from a list view.

Shares

If you want to allow users to share list items, please read here on how to set it up.

Limits

For a list, you can define the following limits:

• List items per page
  A number of items on a single page
  
• Title length
  Number of characters allowed for the Title field
  
• Description length
  Number of characters allowed for the Description field
  
• Source length
  Number of characters allowed for the Source field
  
• Referral link length
  Number of characters allowed for the Referral Link field
  

Check also the uploader global limits, for all formats.

Labels

You don’t have to stick to our naming. If you prefer to change the Open List to Users List or anything else, you can do that via WP Dashboard > Settings > Snax > Formats > Lists > Texts section. There are three subsections, one for each list type. You can text for:

• Singular name
  Name of the list, on the Frontend Submission Page.
  
• Add new
  The list name, on the list submission form
  
• Description
  The text under the name of the list, on the Frontend Submission Page.
  
• Overview
  The text under the list name, on the list submission form
  

How To Enable?

To enable the infinite loading for next posts, please do as follows:

• Go to the WP Dashboard > Appearance > Customize page
• Switch to the Home panel
• Scroll to the Main Collection section
• Set the pagination to Infinite Scroll or Infinite Scroll (First load via click)

Purpose

Filter post collections by taxonomy filters.

Requirements

The Taxonomy Filter widget is the theme’s built-in widget. No other dependencies.

Widget Name

The widget can be located under the WP Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets page by the Bimber Taxonomy Filter name.

Supported Taxonomies

You can filter by all public taxonomies:

• built-in taxonomies (categories, tags)
• custom taxonomies (Snax formats, Reactions, Sponsors, your custom taxonomies)

Filter Applicability

The filter works on all post archive pages (post types, taxonomies, terms. etc.). If posts on an archive page have some taxonomies associated with them, you can filter by those taxonomies.

Setup

As the widget is for archive pages, it should be added to the WP Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets > Post Archives sidebar.

Empty Filters

If you add the widget to filter by “Snax Formats” but on an archive page are posts that have no association to any “Snax Format”, your filter won’t show any values to filter with. If such a case, a good option is to hide that filter. You can easily do that via the option Hide widget if no filters (check the Options section below).

You can use many filters on a page.

Potential Reasons

There are 2 main sources of the problem:

1. conflict with a plugin (e.g. Bluehost plugin)
2. site’s URLs (https:// vs http://) misconfiguration

Conflict With Plugins

The easiest and fastest way to check if that’s the problem in your case, is to disable all plugins and run the installation without them. Each demo will install/activate plugins it needs to work.

Site’s URLs Misconfiguration

When your site using SSL and is served under https://, make sure that the correct URL (https://your-domain.com) is set for options:

• WP Dashboard > Settings > General > Site URL
• WP Dashboard > Settings > General > WordPress URL

Additionally, if you use the www. part in the URL, please check if you load the site with it. If your site is configured to work under the URL https://www.your-domain.com, and you open it like https://your-domain.com, the URLs will mismatch and that may cause the installation problem as well. The best is to force a redirection to correct URL regardless if a user types URL with or without https:// and/or www.

What Do I Need It For?

Facebook offers a lot of services, but in the theme we utilize the following:

• Social Login

Requirements

To access the API, you will need:

• a Facebook Developer account, which you can create at developers.facebook.com
• a registered Facebook app
• The Facebook app must be in Live Mode

Create And Bind An Application

To create a new Facebook application, please do as follows:

1. Go to https://developers.facebook.com/apps
2. Click the Create App button
3. Choose the purpose of your app (here Build Connected Experiences) and Continue
4. Fill in Display Name and Contact Email and click the Create App ID button

5. When the app is created, find the App ID and App Secret

6. Put the App ID and App Secret into the WP Dashboard > Appearance > Theme Options > Third-party APIs > Facebook
7. Save changes

Before the October 24th, 2020, all you need to do to embed Facebook and Instagram on your site was to put a URL into post content. Thanks to the oEmbed protocol, WordPress could load content from Facebook/Instagram without any other requirements.

Embedding After October 24th, 2020

After the October 24th, 2020, you have to send an access token with every oEmbed request to Facebook/Instagram (read more). Refer to the next section to create an app for Facebook and provide creds so we can generate the token for you and allow embedding.

Restore Support for Facebook and Instagram Embeds

To add support for Facebook and Instagram embeds, please do as follows:

1. Create and bind a Facebook application
2. Add the oEmbed product to the app

3. Add a URL of Facebook or Instagram into post content, and you should see a live preview of it on the frontend

In WordPress, embedding refers to the integration of links, images, videos, gifs and other content into posts. Embedded content appears as part of a post and supplies a visual element that encourages increased click-through and engagement.

How Does It Work?

The easy embedding feature is mostly powered by oEmbed, a protocol for site A (such as your site) to ask site B (such as YouTube) for the HTML needed to embed content from site B.

To embed a video or another object into a post or page, place its URL (e.g. YouTube video URL) into the content area. Make sure the URL is on its own line and not hyperlinked.

SUCCESS. WordPress will automatically turn the URL into an embed object and provide a live preview of it.

FAILURE. If WordPress fails to embed the URL, not all URLs can be embedded, the post will contain a hyperlink to the URL.

What Sites Can I Embed From?

Not all sites can be embedded. WordPress will only embed URLs matching an internal whitelist. This is for security purposes. Check the allowed sites.

Facebook and Instagram embeds have been deprecated October 24th

Reactions are powered by the What’s Your Reaction plugin, so please make sure you have it activated.

Basics

Reactions are similar to tags and can be used to group your posts. Create a set of reactions, display the voting box under a post and let users share their feelings about that post. Reactions are assigned to a post automatically after a certain number of votes, you can assign a reaction manually too.

Fake reactions functionality allows you to display a certain starting number of reactions for every post, so you don’t have to start from 0. This can be set globally or locally for every post. Read More

Requirements

This position is powered by Mashshare Share Buttons and Easy Social Share Buttons plugins. Please choose just one of them that better suits your needs.

Where To Find?

This position is rendered on top of a single post and it floats during scrolling.

Supported Post Types

The Mashshare supports a single post of any type (except pages and attachments).

The Easy Social Share Buttons support a single post of any type including pages (check below for more details).

Setup

For Mashshare Share Buttons

To enable the position, please do as follows:

1. Go to the WP Dashboard > Appearance > Customize page
2. Switch to the Posts > Single panel
3. Find the Sticky ShareBar option and enable it
4. Publish

Post types: all single post types, except pages.

Networks: the same setup as for the positions After Post Content and Before Post Content.

For Easy Social Share Buttons

To enable the position, please do as follows:

1. Go to the WP Dashboard > Easy Social Share Buttons
2. Choose the Where to Display > Positions tab (screen, point 2)
3. In the Additional Share Button Displays section (screen, point 3), please activate the Top bar position
4. Switch the Where to Display > Post Types tab and check at least one post type
5. Social networks for that position base on the WP Dashboard > Easy Social Share Buttons > Share Buttons > Networks setup
6. If you wish to adjust that position appearance and networks, please use the Position Settings panel in Where to Display > Positions tab
7. Save Settings
